Diameter of headlamp actuator rod?
Hello,
actually I´m a ´69 Tbird driver I came here, because our cars both have the headlight actuators which work basically the same. Parts for the Tbird actuators are very hard to find, so I want to figure out, whether I can use some of the Corvette parts for mine.
Long story short, I want to replace the rod seal and am pretty confident the corvette seal will fit.
All I need to know is: What´s the diameter of the rod itself?
Thank you very much!

In the old days when we couldn't get a new boot, and the actuators were working fine except for the rod shaft seal, we would use baby bottle nipples.. We would just burn a slightly smaller hole in the end and then glue the backside to the actuator. That might be a option for you too.

On the end of the actuator on a corvette, there is a clevis. The clevis unscrews from the rod to replace the seal.

But I found another good way to seal it. I will try it with a grommet (MS35489-9). A grommet should also fit over the top of the rod.
