Default Question about fuel pump fittings

Read through a bunch of fuel pump threads and havent seen this addressed so its probably a stupid question. I am replacing the fuel pump in my 1980, am I supposed to use something like rtv on the threads of the fittings that screw into the fuel pump and lead to the carb. The one I removed looks like it had rtv on them. If so, what one should I use?

NO! RTV is not compatible with gasoline......there are fuel proof sealants but, GM didn't use any on original installations way back when.
