Lately I haven't had time for rebuilding carbs, plus the original carb is now 22 years old. Decided to buy new (Edelbrock 1904 replacement for 1980 vette) from Summit. After putting the carb on 6 months ago I noticed the accelerator pedal would bind a little just off idle. If you put a lttle extra presure to overcome the bind, the throttle moves quickly causing a lurch, but is fine the rest of the travel.
I didn't have time to mess with it so it sat for 6 months. Yesterday I decided to sort it out. Removed the throttle cable and found that it would still bind. Finally found that it is the accelerator pump plunger! It seems to bind just off idle (when the seal starts down the bore).
Has anyone seen this before. I also emailed Edelbrock for tech help yesterday.
