Default Richmond 5 speed to replace 4 speed in '80 questions.

Hello. I picked up a Richmond 5 speed and am installing it in my 80 vette with a 383 and the factory 4 speed. I have found some good threads to assist but had a couple questions.

I bought the American Powertrain Hydramax clutch release hydraulic bearing kit and was wondering where you guys mounted the reservoir? Was there room to keep it on the master cylinder, or did you need to remotely mount it? Was it difficult to locate the master cylinder on the firewall to make the clutch rod line up? And did the crossmember fit properly?

Any advice or pics would be appreciated.

Thank you.

My location was next to the left side hood hinge (remote).

Here is my T56 install. I also used the American powertrain hydraulic setup.

That was a great thread. I appreciate the work it took to document all that work.

I will definitely be referring to that as I perform this task.

I mounted mine next to the master cylinder, I made a bracket and bolted it to the Master cylinder bolts.

I have the Richmond with Hurst shifter in my 71. Uses stock clutch linkage with no problem.

But, the Hurst needs to be muscled around to shift. Been told the Long shifter is smoother. Anyway, I am used to it now!
