Angled plug heads, headers and factory side exhaust
Is anyone using headers with angled plug heads and factory side exhaust?
I recently installed Edlebrock performer RPM heads on a '68 327, I was planning on using Hedman's #68286 headers but the notes say " will not fit angled plug heads". Anyone have any recommendations who might be running this type of setup?

Burning Brakes
I ran Doug's Sidepipe headers on my '79 with Phase II bowtie angle plug heads. There was one plug, don't recall which one (it was one of the center two, plug #3, 4, 5, or 6) that didn't clear the header with a standard spark plug so I ended up with an Accel short plug in that one spot.
Not sure if that helps but there you go.
I recently switched to straight plug aluminum heads and the plug installation was much easier with my headers.

It's #6 that's a problem, and maybe #3. I used those headers on both RHS and Eddy angle plug heads. The Eddy's were worse, so there is a difference between angle plug heads of different brands. You'll need to dent the tubes a little and it will still be a little tight for the plug wire. I'm running straight plug heads now with no dents and no issues.

Oh yeah. The problem I had was the big MSD plug boot was always burning through. The also make a smaller boot which is more flexible so I took one of their 90* ends and bent it so would keep the boot away from the tube. Before I changed engines I finally just left the boot off, and no problems. One of the old Rajah 90 degree type would work but I couldn't find any. Not sure they are made anymore, the last I used was 50 years ago.
Another thing you can do it use a 1/8" thick copper header gasket. It will push the header out a little more to give you some room. I only use solid copper header gaskets and put a bead of the copper type silicone rubber around each port on both sides of the gasket. In fact, clean everything well and silicone the gasket to the header prior to installing and let it cure overnight. Makes it a lot easier to line up.

Also, looking at their spec sheet Hedman's have rectangular ports and the Edlebrock heads have square ports.

Those are D-port. The top of the port is smaller than the header tube opening, so no problem. The bottom matches pretty well.

I used the Sanderson headers made for the D port heads and angled plugs. They are block huggers and our locate shop fabbed some tubes to run through the factory side exhausts. I'm using Sweet Thunder high flow mufflers. A bit loud but they work.

Dropped right in. I also have R&P steering and Vintage Air installed with no clearance problems. Check your private messages.

Do the Hedman's bolt right up to the exhaust pipes?
I have Ported 195 Aluminum Angle Plug Heads with Hedman Headers. I like the Ball/Socket flange design.. No gasket, never leaked in 9 years... I Run Autolite Racing plugs, they are shorties like the ACCEL plugs.. only #3 cylinder is a little tight but the plug wire does clear. Hi-Temp wires tho

No, you have to weld the mating ball connector on the pipe. Don't forget to slide the 3 bolt flange over the pipe before welding it on. I believe they are supplied with the headers. They are in the photo on the Summit site for the headers.
