Default A different kind of lighting problem

I've searched the forum to no avail to my problem on my 74. All of my running lights remain on constantly, and I mean all of them!
Headlights turn on once I activate them, other then that, everything stays on. I'm thinking it's in my headlight switch but not entirely sure.
Any ideas folks?
Getting tired of disconnecting the battery.
Thanks.

With your running lights being on, are the interior dash/console lights also on?

Hi Bill,
Yes, all dash/console lights are also on. Footwell light and back deck light is only activated by turning headlight switch to the left and headlights by pulling the ****...Dash/console lights obviously dim if I turn **** to the right.
Any help is appreciated.

The quick assessment without consulting the service manual is that your headlight switch is bad.

Everything is "normal" in a ON position, but for some reason your switch wont go OFF.

Thanks.
Jim, without hearing from the OP, my guess is that the lights are on all the time.

Really sounds like the headlight switch. To verify with 99.99% certainty disconnect the headlight switch electrical connector. If lights stay on there's a problem in the +12V wiring on the lamp side of the switch; if lights are off it is the switch.

Thanks for the replies folks. Your replies have confirmed my suspicion of a bad headlight switch.
Next question is how do I remove/replace the headlight switch?
Do I need to remove the dash or is there an easier way of doing it?
Any help or links to how to do this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again!

Jon,
There are two "books" that a C3 owner can not live without. The first being the AIM (assembly instruction manual) and the dealer Service Manual. If you don't have a copy please consider getting a set. Ebay usually has one for 30-40 bucks.

For example, Peterbuilts graphic is a page right from the AIM and it really help put everything in perspective!
