Default Anti theft

On my 76, i got it bare. No emblems, nothing. So theres a hole on the drivers side fender where the anti theft switch went. Im not looking to put another anti theft in, im simply looking to just put the key cylinder in that hole to "fill it". My question is, does anyone have a link or know where i can buy one? I cant seem to locate one on the web

Hi H,
Try ZIP Products part #ES-374. It's the 71L-77 alarm switch.
It would be a start if you ever decide to add the rest of the alarm parts.
Regards,
Alan

Hi H,
The number shows in my hard copy but not on line…. perhaps the switch has become hard to find.
Try calling ZIP Products, Corvette Central, or Paragon Corvette Reproductions.
Good Luck!

Alan

If you are planning on leaving all the badges off, you may want to consider removing that part altogether. Another member, CFLVette, had his '76 in the shop to tidy up the front bumper fit and had his anti theft switch removed and filled in the hole.

Body has been completely redone already. Not planning on more body work to fill the hole. Just need to find the alarm cylinder somehow

The door lock cylinder looks identical from the outside.

If you don't care to have the anti theft function, this may work cosmetically. They use the same retaining clips.

About three years ago I tried to locate the same anti theft switch and tried all the Corvette parts vendors. I even called a few and asked about the switch. All of them told me that it had been discontinued and wasn't being reproduced. I did manage to find a NOS one on eBay and paid what I considered to be a lot for a $ 30 switch. Keep looking and maybe you'll find one like I did.

I'm thinking that the size of the switch is the same but the original was held on by a "C" clip and the ones for sale now tighten up with a nut.

I have one if you are interested. Not sure what a fair price would be, maybe someone could comment in, but if not shoot me an offer.
