Default Wheels and tires. Offset trailing arms.

I talked to van steel today and just wanted to verify what I was told so that I don't wind up with an unusable wheel tire combo.

Fronts
18x8 with 4 inch backspaces. With max 255-45-18

Rear.
18x9 with 5 inch back spacing.
285-40-18

This makes the fronts 0.16" taller than the rear. Which although small seems odd.

Also for the rear do 9.5" fit? They said 9, but 9.5 seems to be much more common. If 9.5 does fit do we need to run a different offset? What do you guys do?

An 18" wheel should not need offset trailing arms due to the taper design (more clearance with a bigger wheel) of the stock arms.

I have 18x9.5, 5.25 bs on the rear with a 275 tire. The only mod I did was relocate the park brake cable bracket to the top of the trailing arm. In hindsight, I don't think I needed to do this but it wasn't a big deal regardless.

The frame not the trailing arm is the limiting factor with 18" wheels.
The most common set up is 18x8 with a 4" backspace and a 245/45-18 tire and a 18x9.5 with a 5" backspace and a 275/40-18 tire. As you see some C3s run a slightly different combination. Just remember that do to production tolerances, wear and tear, and damage there could be variations from one car to another but you should be safe with this particular combination.

Thanks guys. We started this project many many years ago. So a lot has changed, and a lot more information is available now. I will probably go with your recommendations just to be safe, first go around.

Consequently, I like the look of the torque thrust II wheels, but I would really like to have black chrome. Anyone know of a place that makes something like that? Foose had some but they discontinued the black chrome.
