Default EFI fuel tank for '75

I am getting ready to order a Fitech EFI kit to ad on my '75 but have been reading that there are a lot of problems with the Fuel command center, so I looked into replacing my old tank with a EFI ready tank but they don't seem to make them for '75 model..
I looked at Tanksinc and asked them but with no luck, no tank for '75 model.
They have up to '74, shouldn't the '74 work in a '75 ?

Found one from vetteworks but damn $470, just for the tank ;-0

Does anybody know where I could get a efi ready tank for my car ?

Thanks

Please do a search for my write-up In-Tank F.I. Pump into a 75 to77 . It describes how I modified my stock tank for use with a Tuned Port Injection system.

When I added EFI to my BBC, I used the Aeromotive Phantom system.

The issue with the '75 tank is the bladder. I bought a brand new tank from Rock Auto and scored an old bladder on eBay. I cut the gasket/nut part off the old bladder so I could bolt my old fuel level sensor into the new tank.

The Phantom system has its own sump and I installed it in the right half of the tank. I am using the Phantom 340 but there is also a Phantom 200 if you don't need the bigger pump. Orginally, I used an LS filter/regulator but on advice of my tuner, converted to an Aeromotive regulator/filter combo set at 42 psi and 1/2 returnless feed line (using a return system was really heating up my fuel at cruise).

I am also using the Aeromotive Fuel Pump Speed Controller to reduce pump speed at cruise.

Two years and almost 5k miles with no issues.

Thanks for the info, but do I need the bladder in there ?
What if I just get a tank and leave the bladder out ?

No, if you buy a replacement tank it comes without a bladder because as I recall, no one makes a replacement bladder. Unless you can reuse your old bladder, or find an NOS, you'll have to run it without a bladder.

Good luck... GUSTO

If you are inclined to use the Aeromotive Phantom Stealth Fuel System that Steve mentions above (post #3) you can go to this video and at the16 minute point they begin the installation of the system in the tank of their project vehicle. They discuss at length how to mount the pump and sump system in your tank. The video is set up so that you can conveniently skip forward to any point in the video.

Good luck... GUSTO

You can use the earlier tank in your car, you will however have to buy some parts. The filler neck and bib thing (technical term there) are different. I want to say the mounting straps might be a tad different also (I thought I read that you need to make them a little longer, but cant remember). I haven't tried to mount the tank yet in my car (will be going on next week). That's what I am doing in my '75.

No bladder in my tank. The nuts for the fuel level sensor plate are part of the bladder, so you have to cut that part off the bladder and reuse. That is what I did.

Some 21 years ago when adding DPFI to my '72, I mounted the pump to the rear frame rail and ran a filter on the suck side out of the fuel supply out the bottom of the tank.....noted that I had to carry 1/4 tank in city driving or engine would buck/even DIE upon a right turn in city driving.....pickup was dry as fuel slosh and pump demands hurt engine.....

I got lazy and found my own solution a secondary tank mounted down LO and in front of the real tank....5 gallon air tank from Harbor Freight, which does ALL the fuel demand and recirc things, and the main tank drains into it......corner like MAD now...not an issue.....

cost me about 25 bux and bit of effort course a buddy who is an expert WELDER helped out a LOT!!!!!!!

Here's an idea.

Something like this,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/044-External...-/272110581579

Run the output of the mechanical fuel pump into this tank with a vent running back from this tank T'd into the vent from the mechanical pump which purges the air out the tank.

You can buy that type of tank without the fuel pump and then source your own fuel pump if you want to find a better quality pump.

I like this idea. Would the 1/4" return line be large enough for this approach?

The return line from a surge tank just needs to flow enough to to purge any air that gets into it.

I know this thread is old, but I'm hoping that you can shed some light on the process that you used with your 75. I'm looking for the best way to handle this. Thanks much!!

I know this is an older post, but I really need help with this tank. Would you be willing to build one of these for a price? What would you charge??

This is THE BEST solution that I have seen so far! I have one question. When you screwed the -AN fitting into the sending unit plate, what kind of leak prevention did you use? Thanks again for the assistance!
