Holley 4160 vs Street avenger
I'm looking at these 2 carbs for my 71 with 350cui engine with changed intake (edelbrock performer) and long tube headers.
Which carb to go with?
https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...arts/0-80457SA
or
https://www.holley.com/products/fuel.../parts/0-80670
I would rather go with 80457 because it's much cheaper and if it needs to, would go up in jet size.
I have a feeling that a street avenger would be too much for regular street driving.

I ran the 670 Street Avenger on my 70 small block with a small cam. I did have to change jets to make it make it run better. Seems like it was rich when I got it. I also changed the spring in the vacuum can so the secondaries would open easier. At the same time I changed the springs and set up in the distributor. The carb always ran good to me. The 600 would probably be closer to the correct size for a 350. There should be a calculator for carb size on the net to help.

Hi,
What carb are you running now? Just curious what fuel line configuration you have at the moment.
I have the Holley 80457 and a custom fuel line that lets me switch between the Quadrajet and the Holley. I can post pics if you like.
I also spent a lot of time tuning the 4160 with a wideband and can post the details if you are interested.
Best regards,
John

I currently run quadrajet but not original one. One of the previous owners changed it with a model from gm truck (if numbers are correct). Also the qjet is missing some parts and previous owner tuned it in a way that the secondaries didn't open to save fuel!!!!!???
And to top it off it is missing some parts, like choke pull off etc.

Have you looked into the Quickfuel Slayer series? This is a version of the 4160 but with some nice tuning enhancements such as an adjustable secondary diaphragm, removable air bleeds and power valve restrictors. If I had it to do again, I might try one of those.
There are many ways to adapt one of these to your car. I wanted to be able to change between a Qjet and the Holley so this is what I did.
I used a Spectre 2998, cut the end off and installed a 6an compression fitting.
Then put a corresponding 6an compression on the fuel line. so it looks like this.
This at least puts the connection on the correct side of the carburetor.
