Default electric fans

does anyone know if two electric fans will move the same amount of air as a mechanical fan? 1979 with auto trans. Someone answered this question earlier but since i am new i cant figure out how to find that conversation. also can anyone recommend a adequate dual electric fan with shroud that will keep my vette cool? Thank you for your advice! i am so looking forward to getting info from ones who know vs. the locals at the na name parts store!!

welcome aboard. to use SEARCH function, go to top of this page, and in RED it will say SEARCH THIS THREAD. Click on it and in the drop down box, just type in what you want to search for. Works like any other search. I am sure you are going to get lots of suggestions, from the econo way to the it must be made of gold way. The true answer will be somewhere in the middle. But before you switch out the fan, make sure the rest of the cooling system is in good condition. FLush out radiator, blow away all the leaves in it, make sure the thermostat works and your belts are good.

Agree with kanvasman, this has been a heated topic in the past. I went electric fans about 5 or 6 years ago and would not go back to mechanical unless originality was a factor. They are sooo much better IMO.

I'm using this shroud and fan set up on this engine in my 1978. It's a fairly stout engine and so far no cooling issues here in Florida. They accepted my offer of $129 delivered for it.

I found dual electric fans with shroud that produce 3000 cfm. What I am wondering is is it necessary to switch out radiator and water pump? I am being told that I must because the electric fan won't cool the way I need it to without a aluminum rad and high flow water pump. One more, why does the fan I am talking about say pusher/puller? Don't I want both to be pullers?

The fans are 1600 cfm each. There was no schematic as it didn't come with a fan controller. You can get controllers for under $50 and are easy to install.

This is the radiator I bought. For about a $310 investment I got the radiator, shroud, fans and controller.

Do you have any links for the wires and is it the right one for the fan link you sent me? I offered on the fans. I'm a little unsure about getting the right setup. Also did you need to get another radiator? Mine works fine and the water pump is new, belts good and recently flushed. New thermostat. The works. I can't afford a new radiator. Thank you for the help you have given. Thanks again

This is the controller I'm using. The instructions are on Summit's page. It really is simple to install.

I bought the radiator because I needed one. As cheap as they are I think It's good insurance. You can always do a radiator later if you want.
