Default Need help of a casting number specialist ?

Hello,
Can somebody help me out with the strange combination of motor parts numbers and casting numbers?

Vin # of the car is 1Z8748S403307

On the block there is the code V0422 CLL ??
Also left exhaust is # 388711 RH8 ? right # 3932461 ( correct I think)
Caburator 17057204 ( 1977 ? )

They sold me the car as a "Matching number" but I'm afraid I was too confident in that person?

You can check to have an idea of the car on the following site:
http://corvettechevrolet1978.weebly.com

Thank you all in advance for a reply,

The 6th digit being an 8 is a 1978 VIN but the CLL is not a 1978 Corvette engine code it belongs to a 1977 full size Chevrolet

Is there another grouping of digits on the stamp pad indicating the VIN of the vehicle this engine first was installed in?

Regards,
Alan
do you mean this grouping of digits?
You're quick MW!

Default Full size

Full size could be an Impala and since the partial VIN on the block doesn't match the vehicle VIN you have further evidence it is NOT numbers matching.

The shape of the pad indicates this is the 1977 version of an engine with the CLL suffix code.

I see from your profile you're from 'BE', but I'm not sure where that is?

The original 1978 engine was removed for unknown reasons and another Chevrolet engine from 1977 that was NOT originally in a Corvette was installed.
