Default Astro Top Racing Roof ?

I've heard good and bad about Astro Tops, and just have a question about their relatively new ''racing roof". The normal top is reinforced on one side of the center post. The racing roof is reinforced on both sides of the center post. Does anyone have one of these or have any info? I like the idea of 2 more inches of head room, but my car will see about 140mph on rare occasions, and wonder if it will stay on. Thanks

they don't have reinforcement, or mine doesn't(about 30 years old). they do leak some air and water if washing the car. they might raise up at 140 mph.IMO.

I just called the company in Alabama, and he told me the racing roof is made to withstand the high speeds I mentioned. $90 for shipping ? Yeeesh!!!

I was trying to think of how to answer this.......... I had my steering box Redone a few years ago by Gary Ramadi here on the forum. At the same time i had everything new in the front end. Already it is no longer rock solid. i thought about tie rod ends and ball joints again, But i'm thinking that power rack and pinion might be the alternate answer. New high performance cars seem to be very stable.

I have not entered a sanctioned open road race in years. I quit road racing my vette. On occasion I exceed 150 for a few miles

gkull, I have pwr steering on mine with new components with hydroboost, and an indy front spoiler, and have no problems. What about your Astro Top staying on when you go quick?

It probably isn't any higher than glass tops. I just have the regular fiberglass tops with the pad in them, which is most likely the difference

I said that I have a lower seat to gain helmet space

I had my steering box blue printed to be better than brand new. I also have modified power steering with a cooler. I have zero bump steer and front coil over dual adjustable shocks. I've welded every thing and have a cross bar

It's about the best that it can be, but I drove a 2016 top of the lineup z 06 manual. My vette does not compare

I would not feel safe attempting to drive a stock c3 vette fast

I have one of their tops now for almost 30 years, a little wind noise, and will leak a little water when you wash the car with it on. I do like driving around with it on in late fall, still gets warm from the sun shinning in. but I usually ride with all the tops off. but I guess you need helment clearance??/ yes, you will get 2 inches more head room. IMO too bad you don't live closer so you could try the top on your car.

Shame they don't make one with a Gurney bubble.
