I have a 1978 Corvette all the gauges (besides speedometer) and gauge lights are not working also the windshield wipers will not work either. Any suggestions what it could be? I have checked the fuses, and think it could be the ground wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do the courtesy lights work when you open the door(s) or turn the headlight switch **** all the way left? (I was wrong here--the courtesy light switches ground via the hinge pillars.) Can you turn on the courtesy lights manually via the headlight switch?
If you have NO courtesy lights and NO gauges and NO instrument lighting then you almost certainly have a grounding issue as these are three separate circuits with three different fuses.A/C duct) but I seem to recall that you must remove or at least loosen and pull out the dash somewhat.
If that ground connection looks good it may have come loose at its factory splice point at the main harness. That splice is particularly vulnerable to damage due to tugging, pulling, etc. of the MANY connections in that area and in particular the hideously located and difficult-to-access horn relay.

Sorry--I see now that both gauges and lighting are all out. If you have interval (delay) windshield wipers they too need that SINGLE grounding point as the wipers are controlled through the delay module in the center console.
You need to check that grounding point! With the exception of the power antenna relay ground everything in the main cabin harness connects at that single ground on the driver hinge pillar.
