Hi MP,
Looks like some VERY nice work!
2000 seems like a long time ago…. but not in 'car restoration' years!
Carry On!
Regards,
Alan

I'll bite….. tape on the front emblem?!?

Yes, bought a new emblem and now the clear part on top seperates from the chrome body.
I will contact Ecklers about this but have no hope to get a free of charge replacement.
Don't even know when I bought it.
The tape is in place to secure the loose parts

I cannot fathom doing that work half way around the globe. You have ultimate patience.

I do have 2 suggestions, but I do not wish to crap on your parade.

Hi MP,
MUCH BETTER to know about the loose lens now than to have it fly off while you're driving AND put a little knick in your windshield!
Again, very nice looking work!!!

Alan

Curious to hear your suggestions
But I have to defend myself in regards to the aircleaner.
I built a custom hood with forced air induction and this cleaner allows airflow through the top of it.
I will use a K&N once the car is finished

To give you a better idea you can find some pics below.
Hood is very dusty though

Let me repeat, your car is a work of art. I only post this to help, not critisize.

Changing the air cleaner is a good catch.. The foam element in those air cleaners have been known to catch fire and, well, catch fire and burn.

The other item I would most certainly change is the rubber fuel line. If a suction line breaks, it dribbles. If that pressure line bursts, 4GPM of fuel will cover the engine, and you will never shut it off in time. Many cars have burned down because of this. Use steel tubing or aircraft hose at minimum.

Lastly, I "think" I see those ty wrap type fasteners on your radiator. I have known my radiator guy for 30 years. He LOVES those things. See, the barbs act like saw teeth, and like to chew thru the fins and tubes, giving him more work.
I highly suggest you use brackets to mount them instead. Not as important as the other two, but an FYI just the same.

Kudos once again. Now finish up while they still sell gasoline.

Thanks Alan, good to see that all that work is finally acknowledged
When I started the project I underestimated the effort and made a big fault. I did everything as good as I could, tried to achieve perfect results.
It worked out, but forced me to keep that high level of resoration.
Being the only one working on that project it took me years.
I would NOT do it again!

But that is just my experience.

Very good advice, thanks a lot!

Hi Mp,
There are 2 phrases that are sometimes seen in garages that have kept me working at it:
First… Craftsmanship beyond all reason!
Second… Better is the constant enemy of good!
I wish I could have been the first to realize either of those sentiments!
There IS a certain pleasure to be had in doing everything yourself.
Regards,
Alan

Nothing looks better than a fresh frame off!
Nice job it is one hell of an exhausting (for me mentally anyway) journey
long as you stay on it will be Ok. Almost there

Took mine apart in 00 just got it on the road 3 yrs ago. How guys are doing these in a few months is beyond me good job on following through!

With what new cars cost today why not spend the same doing a frame off then you get to drive a brand new car you like every day..and its paid for. Makes sense to me wouldnt have 10 yrs ago.

Just insure it and go have fun driving something that you almost never see anymore thats where the fun is. everyones got a late model something thats all plastic or wow..another lSx.

Dont get all the nit picky criticism. Thats a lot of hard work I mean a safety issue is one thing but-

Very nice job! There is a ton of money in custom parts on that thing and it looks very well thought out. I like the hood and am glad to see you are changing out the air cleaner. They don't work very well on Corvettes with no clearance above, fiberglass and no metal lid to restrict flames on a back fire. Hope you get that puppy on the road soon as it looks really nice.

.... park distance control.
The part of the bumper will be painted black, so it will not stick out anymore.

Regarding new parts.... well, EVERY part has been restored or replaced.
Every bushing, every washer, every bolt. It's a new car
