75 coupe w/ac correct alternator belt length and routing?
Got a replacement autozone belt pn 15535 that is says 53.5 inches, which appears to match up with other vendors lengths.
The old belt was routed incorrectly around the air pump was fan only , much shorter.
So I routing it in the groove closest to the engine around the crank and fan.
When I pivot the alternator up clip on back of its body hitting the valve cover. Appears the belt is an inch or two short? Even if I got it on looks way too close to the valve cover.
Does anyone know offhand correct part number? See attached pic.

I would get the next size up in length. When I replace mine, I like to get a belt that fits right where I want the alternator to be. Since my alternator runs off the PS pulley, I have to do the PS belt first to get things lined up like I want.

From looking at the pic I posted where is the ideal position for the alternator? Should it be in the middle of the range in the top bracket slot? Or at least a few inches away from the valve cover?
So what I got is 53.5 inches which seems to be the correct listing.....should I get one that's 5 inches longer assuming divide by 2 to move it in the bracket?

Your problem might be the diameter of the alt. pulley, doesn't look like a factory type. When I installed the correct BB alternator pulley on my '71, I had to get a slightly longer belt.
I would like it similar to the one in this photo.
