Default Transmission and rear diff fluid change tips?

Need to change out both on my stock '75 coupe. Have a pump, does anyone know which side of the car the drain and fills are on?

I have an inclined driveway so was thinking of driving it up on ramps on the incline to level it out which is my oil change method.

So assuming the drive it up on front ramps for trans and of course rear ramps for diff? Or would jack stands be better?

Thanks trying to save some time jocking the car around!

There is no 'drain' on either the trans or the differential; there is only a 'fill' plug. Drive the car for a while to get the fluids warm...easier to suck out. Leaving a little of the old gear lube in them is no big deal.

Use ramps for rear and use the jack stands also as a secondary safety measure. I never solely rely on one or the other. Redundancy is a good thing.

Agreed! I think there is a drain for trans just not rear correct?

I think you're going to be disappointed unless you have an aftermarket tranny pan.

your profile says you have a 4 speed, so there is no drain pan and unless someone modified your muncie or your have an m22, I believe there is no drain plug

Didn't they install Borg Warners in 75?

Really doesn't matter at this point since you will have a pump.

after draining differential, put 6 oz of Friction Modifier in first, then fill with appropriate gear oil til it runs out hole on level ground

The Muncie in my 72 has a drain and it's not a M22....That said I have no idea what kind of transmission is in a 75 or if it might have a drain.

I have a BW super T10 4 speed dated 1974 sitting in my garage. probably the same as what is in your 75. it has a drain plug. on the right side, near the bottom.. also all the muncies from 1971 on ( and most of the 1970's, have a drain plug.

yes you have pump out the rear differential fluid, get as much as you can out of there. don't forget to add the special posi additive oil to it when refilling.

I wish I had a drain. For future reference Sears and others sell 8 point sockets to get the plug out.

A set up like this will help getting the fluid back in the differential....It's just a funnel with a long piece of tube.

ST 10s have a drain plug, it's the bottom plug on the passenger side. On the rear end, I use I believe it's a 13mm 12 point socket on the square pipe plug, which fits is perfecly. I use a 6oz bottle of the posi additive and then reuse the bottle with the regular gear oil. The 6 oz bottle works well to fill through the fill plug.

If you can't get a wrench in there for the diff plug, you could also use a 5/8" socket, 8pt. I used a swivel and long extension which made it easier on my 78. Good luck.

Could not get any socket between the fill and the exhaust.

Cat has been removed converted to true dual so maybe thats why clearance issue.
