1970 battery bolt odd size and cutoff
Yesterday, I installed the battery in the 70 for the first time. The head is 1/2 but the threads that go into the battery are smaller. There is an adapter (hex type stud) that screws into the battery. Are either of these normal? I recall some discussion years ago about bolt size, but not the specifics. If it helps for the NCRS folks it's 15.8xx in the production run.
I went to hook up my blade type cutoff (from paragon and sees to be wirthco one), and none of my cable bolts (either in cable or adapter) are long enough and seem to require a nut on backside. The instruction say and show just connecting the cable with no mention of other hardware. Anyone have experience here, rather than me trying to recreate the wheel? I was thinking about getting a bolt about 1.5" in length and maybe nut to replace the battery cable bolt. I would prefer to retain the captured bolt, not sure if possible.

Matt, can you post a picture? It might help us understand exactly what you're dealing with and eliminate any confusion.

The bolt in the cable is 5/16-18. The adapter is female 5/16-18 and male 3/8-16. The head on the battery cable bolt is 1/2 and same as positive cable.

If I remember right the battery is 3/8 - 16. - automotive for both.
I used a SS bolt and SS washers covered in dielectric grease on a friends 67.
Marine batteries have a 3/8 -16 - positive, 5/16 - 18 for the negative.
They may have supplied bolts for both.
