1970 ground issue? Radio is quiet and no fan.
I turned the radio on and the volume was low, could only be heard at loudest. The driver speaker is non-functional and passenger side is new. The radio was confirmed working prior to putting the center stack back together.
Also tried turning in the fan, and got nothing. Same with wipers, no movement. Thinking with all that likely a ground issue. I have the cable in engine compartment that goes from motor mount area to side of block. I poked around and there is a cable on right side of transmission, but not sure where it goes on a big block. Any suggestions?
The engine cranks fine.

I'm just going to throw out an idea for the radio, Is it the original radio ? is the balance control turned/rotated all the way to the right for the passenger speaker to operate fully ?
Is the cable by transmission you speak of the "Frame Ground" ? Connects to the crossmember maybe ?
Is the console ground connected ? Are the drivers side door Jamb grounds secured ?
Hope you have success.

Hi D,
The electrical connection for the radio, (on the driver's side of the case), is a 3 wire connector, one of which is the ground.
The controller for the heater/defroster controller has single a spade connection on it's right side that is a dedicated ground connection for the controller.
Have you checked those?
Regards,
Alan

The connections for the radio is in place, and so is the one for the controller. I haven't yet checked fuses or if limiter switch is causing wiper or other issues. My vacuum troubleshooting book should be here tomorrow.
The driver speaker is dead, but hasn't been removed. Not sure if getting polarity swapped on the speakers would be the issue there.

Found the purple wire should be going to ground. Swapped that and also found the ground wire was also connected to the starter. Got the ground off and attached it to the bellhousing.
Tried to operate the wipers and can hear relay click when moving the switch. When the switch is on I get 12 volts to the power side, no power to the case when switch is off. Wipers and fan still don't work though. Need to find someway to test the wiper motor to ensure it's not toast.

Thanks caskiguy. I found that I had the purple wire going to the motor. Also found that the green and tan wire on the box was swapped. I currently have wipers and medium high speed on the fan. I have my ground wire going to a bell housing bolt. Not sure if correct or not though.

I replaced the resistor and have all speeds but high. When I engage high, it makes a clunk, and doesn't speed up, seems to go silent. From the schematic, it seems that the connection for high speed is on the firewall box by the vent tube.
