Default HELP! Broken part in steering column while replacing ignition switch t/t

So I had to replace my turn signal switch on my 1975 corvette tilt/telescopic steering column and while doing so found a broken part not sure what it does two copper tabs into a plastic piece? What is it and how can I get to it or fix it?? I am having trouble removing further pieces how do I even get to the ignition switch? Here are picture:

I think that is for the key buzzer. I broke mine years ago and never put it back in. Worthless IMO. Always looking for ways to shed weight also!!

Did you remove the tabs? I'm fine with not replacing as long as they don't carry power or ground for something else

key buzzer contacts, they ground to make the circuit for the buzzer.
no other power used.

Here's a tip that little mark on the steering shaft is the indices for the steering wheel being straight up. Hub of the wheel should have a corresponding mark.
