Default Braided spark plug wires

I have a 427/390 with a Hei distributor , with stock intake manifold . I want to put on high performance braided spark plug wires. For looks and performance . What do you recommend ? Ok i did some checking and only found 2 from Taylor Street Series. One is the Taylor Street Series Full Metal Jacket ignition wire sets. item # 91004 $178.00 from Summit Racing. The other one is from Mid America Motorworks. They are $ 99. part # is 614956. What would be the difference in performance ? Thanks..

I used Lectric limited braided dated wires and they work great.

I think the Taylor Street Series wires are the only braided ones available for a big block with an HEI distributor. Lectric Limited only makes braided wires for the stock distributor.

The braided stuff is good for looks and radio shielding, but they're not a performance upgrade when it comes to delivering the spark energy efficiently.

Dave Walters told me, while giving me a ride in his '67 L88, that back in the early 70s he bought a complete L88 crate engine and stuck it in his '55 Chevy. He used Corvette braided wires as a rev limiter.

A spiral core wire has very low resistance, so more energy can hit the plug.

So are braided wires spiral core? I am looking into the Taylor Street series Full Metal Jacket Ignition Wire . From Summit Racing. Product # 91004 They say SPIRO - WOUND 8MM BRAIDED. Is that the same as spiral core?

Pick a universal V8 wire set of your choice of manufacturer and get the braided overbraid sleeve and slide it over the wire before crimping on the hei terminal.
