Any info on the Super Chevy "Caught in the Cross-Fire" car?
I came upon the Super Chevy article by the above title, while looking over this sticky:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...solutions.html
It intrigued me, because I had always heard that the CFI, was problematic, and terrible for performance. I clicked the link and read this article:
http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/51218/
At the end of the article, they stated that they would be bringing the car to Norris Motorsports to get some dyno time. Problem is, being an older article (Sep 1, 2001), I am having a hard time locating any more info. I'm curious as to what it dynoed, if there are any dragslips for it, possibly videos, and if the upgrades did wake up the car as they hinted, what are the specs on the parts used, flow numbers, etc.
Thanks in advance for any info. I would really like to find out if this car is still in existance, and if there is anyway to follow the owner, Mr. Steve Oktela.

While I know nothing of that car, the article is correct that the intake manifold is very restrictive. If you have ever seen one the intake ports are 2/3 the size of a standard manifold. My guess is they added 30-40 high rpm hp to it from stock with the intake mods and cam/rockers (notice the stock ex manifolds which will hinder higher rpm performance) .
Circa 2001 they hogged the manifold out by hand but today there is a manifold you can buy ready to go.

The article gives references so try calling them for info (although it was 16 year ago)

Yeah, I've been reading up on the restrictive intake on these cars thanks to this forum. I believe my dad has a spare from a parts car that he bought. He had the whole engine also, but sold that several years ago. Would have been really cool to build it like they did in this article. If he still has that spare intake, I can get to work on it and free up a little airflow. I'm trying to talk him into getting a little more power out of it, and that's not going very well. I know I couldn't convince him to drop that kind of coin on a new intake.
Yeah, being that the article was written on a build from so long ago, I expect info to be a little scarce.
