Ok, I cannot get the car high enough in the air to get a good shot of the tranny pan.

I have this crappy shot, though:

To get a better one, I am going to have to get this thing on a lift.

So, I was getting onto the highway last night, and there was a newer Honda Accord in front of me. I gave him some room, then floored it. I barely kept up with the Accord, and I don't think he was even trying.

At least mine looked cooler.

Anyway, I got to wondering if my transmission kickdown was working properly. I have read online how to adjust the kickdown on a TH350, and thought it looked rather easy. So, I got up this morning, and since the engine was cool, I thought I'd do the adjustment. Well, my kickdown cable has no attachment slot thingy, and no adjuster tab. Looks like it has a button, instead, and it has this attachment to the carb:

Is that what a TH350C is supposed to have? I Figured it would be just like the standard TH350s.

If not, what the heck do I have in my car?

It sure feels like 3 speeds (no lockup because the computer is disconnected). My speedo is a little off, and I am tach'ing about 2600 rpm at 70 MPH. I'm using a GPS speedo for now.

This whole line of questioning started because I calculated my MPG to 23 on the highway, and thought I'd maybe get the converter lockup working for highway driving.
if you are getting 23mpg I would think your tranny is working fine.you said no computer.do you still have the factory distributer?

Nope. From what I was told, the previous owner swapped out the carb and distributor from a '79.

With that type detent(trans kick down) cable, you should be able to hold in the D shaped button and slide the cable housing to the rear, toward the firewall, then release the button. Get in the car and slowly floor the accelerator (engine off) and it will click and self adjust to get full travel with the pedal floored. Hopefully that will get the kick down functioning.

Thanks. I tried it out last night at around 45 mph and it did kick down that time. t seems to come and go, though. Maybe it's me.

I'll have to take it for a drive today and do plenty of "hard" driving to test it out.
