Since you asked this question in the C3 Forum, I'll answer for a C3. I installed KYB gas shocks on my '73 back in 1991. I really wanted Bilsteins or Koni's, but couldn't justify the expense to my "accountant" .

Three years later I was able to demonstrate to her via CBA, that the Bilsteins actually made sense. I removed the KYB's with a plan to offer them to a friend that needed some new shocks for free. After removing them I was "shocked" to find that a couple of them had lost their gas already.

The Bilsteins have been on there for 20 years (and about 5k miles) and are still like new. Should'a bought the Bilsteins to begin with. I've also had a set of Bilsteins on my Tacoma for over 90k miles that are still good to go.

Oh, and my C4, well it came with Bilsteins...

Good luck... GUSTO

For 1963 to 1982 Corvette these are the over the counter shocks that Bilstein offers. The B6 is essentially for a stock suspension while the B8 is tuned for lowered suspensions. I believe that the B6 shocks are also often referred to as the Bilstein Heavy Duty, while the B8 is referred to as the Bilstein Sport.

Bilstein B6 Performance dampers are a performance upgrade to OE dampers designed to be paired with the OE factory spring. These dampers offer application specific valve settings with a monotube design to bring out the best handling performance of a vehicle. Each damper is rigorously tested for quality that meets or exceeds OE standards. B6 Performance dampers will provide improved safety and handling performance with the added benefit of world-famous Bilstein quality.

Bilstein B8 Performance Plus dampers are a performance upgrade to OE dampers designed to be paired with aftermarket lowering springs. These dampers offer application specific valve settings with a monotube design to bring out the best handling performance of a vehicle. Each damper is rigorously tested for quality that meets or exceeds OE standards. B8 Performance Plus dampers are the ideal solution for pairing with a lowering spring for improved handling and sportier look with the added benefit of world-famous Bilstein quality.

I have KYB Gas Adjusts on 5 vehicles. Never a problem:
1969 Corvette, installed 2002
1967 Corvette, 1989
1979 Camaro, 2008
1996 Jeep Cherokee, 2016
1991 Nissan SE-R (struts), 2006

I was going to try Bilstein's on the Cherokee last year but I needed them right away and they weren't available.

I have QA1 non adjustables, I wanted bilstiens I ordered springs and shocks from VBP I was in a time crunch and needed them Friday I ordered them on monday.tuesday morning I got a call from VBP the shocks were supposed to be there Tuesday afternoon but they just got word the backorder was extended.knowing I was in a time crunch VBP offered me QA1 shocks at the same price, so I said that would be fine. An hour later I get a call from QA1 and the lady said they would have my shocks direct shipped to me and would be there Friday and don't worry.I went into a little detail about my car said goodbye to the nice lady.
later that afternoon QA1 calls back,I'm thinking this can't be good. One of the engineers says we don't have your shocks on the shelf,oh boy I'm thinking. The engineer says we're going to build you a set this afternoon, and since we are we would like to know some info about your car and what you need.
I was totally blown away that 2 companies went way beyond what they had to and made it right. And sure enough Friday afternoon my shocks arrived and rarely have I been so happy with a product. VBP and QA1 both got a customer for life. Oh and a month later the nice lady at VBP THAT HAS SINCE MOVED BACK TO NORTH CAROLINA called and asked if everything was working as I'd hoped,I said no, the products and service I got from you far exceeded my expectations.
