I had a bad starter on my son's 74' and had the OEM starter rebuilt locally. In my case it was significantly cheaper than buying a replacement starter.
Also it keeps the original starter with the car and you know that the starter will fit correctly.

I got one from this bunch for my 496 build. So far, it's fine. And way better than $300!!PMGR, Hi-torque, smaller and lighter than the GM starter. Haven't had time to evaluate the long term, but for $60, it's not bad.

Yep the DB Electrical starter weights 8 lbs and is only $60; unbeatable. Heck buy two for $120 and keep a spare around in case it's cheap Chinese crap dies and then still have money available for other stuff.
