Default Aftermaeket L88 hood owners

Did you have to trim the hood to clear your wipers?

Mine fit with no problem. Mine is one of the last from Vanacor before they closed.

Yep, thats the one. We re-bent the arm to get it to clear. Do you have anything sealing it so the carb/efi gets cold air?

Yes I bought a cold air box from Ecklers and epoxied it in. I put a longer stud in the carb then gently closed the hood to find the center for the Air box. I am using an air cleaner base from a 71 C10 that I modified by cutting it down to the air filter outer diameter. The lid is also a 71 c10 piece that was modified the same way.

This is my 40 year old Ecklers hood.
I had to trim the underside on the pass side for the wiper arm as i was running winter wiper blades "extra thick"

I have an L88 hood on my '79. Bought it from Corvette Central years ago. Bought the air box for it at the same time but never installed it. One of the concerns I have about installing it is the fact that the main brace at the rear of the hood blocks any airflow into the box. I will have to cut or drill the brace but I'm not sure how much I can afford to cut out of it without compromising the structure. I've thought about just drilling a series of holes in the brace. I could probably afford three or four 2 inch or so holes. Doesn't seem like that would flow enough air though. Anyone else dealt with this issue with their hood?

How about a picture of an L88 hood on a wiper door car. A wiper door car with and L88 hood the wipers should clear right?

If I ever went with and L88 (which is on my wish list) I'd keep my wiper door.

It does not seem to much of a concern for my engine it seems to get enough air IDK. I did dyno it with the air cleaner and with out and it did not make a difference. But I don't make a ton of power either. 350 hp and 340 ft lbs at the rear tires. certainly not a killer sbc.

Default I have one and it fits just fine...

hmmm... don't have an external pic available. Here's one from underneath. I'll try to get one from outside later.

The wipers are nowhere near the end of the hood on a wiper door car plus the hood doesnt have as much extension as the one being shown in this thread

I have a short Baldwin motion hood. I am planning to make a filler panel for the wiper area. I don't like how the long hoods end so close to the windshield. It has to disrupt air flow.
