Default Brake pads loose on the slide pin

My left front brake pads rattle because the pin that holds them appears to be too small a diameter. Basically the pads rattle when you hit a bump or even when I lift the car and just work the wheel back and forth. Do i need to replace the pads or just the pin ? Where can I get the pin ?

brake pads should be in slight contact with the rotor. I would look at the thickness of your pads first. pin never was an exact fit to the pad and left room for pad movement. pin to caliper was a better fit any brake supplier will have pins either new or used.

Hi A,
The pin should be a slightly loose fit in the caliper half bosses.
The pin should be a looser in the pads. In fact, the hole for the pin in the pads is elongated so the pad can move forward and rearward slightly.
Is this movement what you're hearing?
Regards,
Alan

Yes it is. So I understand it has to have some movement but it sure makes a bunch more noise than the passenger side.

You might want to make sure your wheel bearing is properly adjusted.

I was going to repack them anyway but are you thinking one may be loose ?
