I used a VT commodore LS but I and you cant use the standard SS cast headers as they put the pipe(s) right into the chassis , the ls3 ones exit at the rear and down so clear everything, you can get them on gumtree sometimes for about $50

[QUOTE=R6n350GT;1595049506]It's just Speedhut.com
The gauges were just under $485.00 for the pair. If you go to the web site
Be sure to hit the customize button. They are having a forth of July sale now,
The gauges are 15% off.

Love seeing how others tackle a LS conversion. There are about 4 listed on here that have done it that I can recall. Most of US have tackled it in different ways. I'm getting close to finishing mine with a LS3 Crate Motor and 4l60E. All that's left is the body and put it back on the frame. I have it running. Here is a link you might get some Ideas

What mount for trans did you use? the C3 mount with a bracket to fit the 460le or 460le mount and adapter to fit c3 cross member?

cross member is from an 80 or 81 vette , but I think it was for a manual as it had a bolt on trans. mount which I didn't use , you can see the piece of flat plate I used ,I ended up bending 2 90* angles in it and just plonked the box mount on it and drilled holes etc.
as for those headers , no idea , mines rhd so its different from yours anyway. but I just bought a used set of the HSV and will be putting them on in a few weeks time so I will see how they go.
its not that clean under there anymore , I drive it as much as possible.
are you going to engineer it ?

I think ill use the Gforce 4L60E Adjustable Transmission Mount and cut the 1980c3 auto cross member bracket and get someone to weld on a plate. I can do pretty much everything else bar weld and fibreglass work. Which i guess on these cars limits me to really just modify things on a small scale..

I had not done much fibre glassing before I started working on these cars. So a self taught welder and glasser here .
from this ,
to this,
where are you anyway ?

Wow i cant wait to do that. I will replace all the AC lines as of right now i only get AC from the top vents not front vents....
Did you use heat shielding tape on the tunnel and firewall or sound deadner ?
Im near mystic pete on the goldcoast
I should start a build thread. Front end is done, some minor things inside the cabin, and rear end is being completely rebuilt.
I will move this post later to its own thread.
dual exhaust - no resonators / mufflers #loudaf
Trailing arms still on
Trailing arms gone
The rear end was worse than this.. Trans is still this bad...
under car is full of this
finally clean
cleaned and sound deadened
sound deadened and painted with epoxy rust proofing
sound deadened and painted with epoxy rust proofing
need to put some rubber / carpet in the bottom to further help with sound / heat

yes I put some heat shield stuff on the bottom , it is a peel the back off ,stick on type but seems to be holding ok,
also put the dynomat inside , made a big difference with the road noise ,my 77 is pretty quiet, I can actually have a conversation in it while driving
looks like you wont have any corrosion problems under there , strangely enough just a good clean up makes working on it a lot better.
when you say the fronts done ,have you allowed for the lighter engine to go back in ? lol

And no changes for the lighter block yet... suggestions ?
New Front springs, shocks, 1 1/8 sway bar, energy suspension bushes everywhere, upper and lower control arms, idler arm, borgeson ps pump and steering box, rebuilt calipers, brained lines, master cylinder rotors , new grease in all the joints...

Theres a 200lb difference in engine weight, I didn't change my front springs out and it still sits even. If I Was going o change them it would be for a set of adjustable like these Speed Direct Coil Overs

If you want to see a real passionate Vette resto have a good look at this thread, probably one of the best I've ever come across. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...1-journey.html

R6n350gt..... I got the frame and big bumper pieces sand blasted and then I painted it with 2 pak primer and then a gloss black metal paint . all suspension pieces I blasted in my cabinet and painted myself . I tried to do as much as possible myself.
with your springs I suggest , wait until its finished and see how it sits.

When I pulled my front springs out , both were broken so I had to get new ones , I went with the 460lb from zip corvette, when it was all back together and driving they were still about 2 inches too high , so I cut them down , too much as it turned out , had about 40mm ground clearance looked so good but useless anyway a guy local had some unused 550lb (correct zip corvette sticker still on them ) so I put them on and it sits nicely now . I cant see the point(in my case) of paying so much for an adjustable set -up, only to do one adjust then leave it. It takes about one hour to change both side front springs and those cost about $80.
