Default '74 L82 Headers / Side Pipes

Had this car approx. 10 years & came with Hooker headers & side pipes (no baffles)
The time has come for replacement. Would appreciate suggestions as I'd like to keep the side pipes & similar arrangement. Price is a factor.

They're toast. Holes in headers & side pipes, keeping SS covers.

Are you sure the "sidetubes" are shot? I had a set of those headers, back in the late 70s, and the sidetubes were pretty substantial. The "headers", however were a POS.

My point is, if the tubes are still good, just replace the header portion of the equation.

I have a set, nice welds, have not run or installed them yet. I bought them "open box" from a forum member. I will say, the flanges are very thick and flat. Won't fit if you have the Borgeson steering conversion, that's why he sold them to me. They keep going up in price, right before I got my 'Vette, they were about $650, then $800, now over grand. If I had the cash($2000+), I'd get some "Billy Boat" header sidepipes. They are handmade here in the US and are double walled so they don't burn ya.

I paid about 600 for mine so you may want to check other vendors on eBay. If they are that much I think for the Stahl designed units

For a while, immediately after I took delivery of my car last January(year and a half) they quit making the low-priced pipes for small blocks altogether. Believe me, I looked and looked. Now they are making them again for small blocks, but keep raising the price.

Seriously consider coated if you're buying them today. I haven't looked at side pipe-style headers at all, but for traditional under-car exhaust headers Holley's "FlowTech" brand is exceptional value and fitment and is "gasketless" (o-rings). -Worth seeing if they sell side pipe-style headers, IMO.

The coated ones look, well, "coated". Sorta like chrome spray paint, not the same as chrome or stainless. If you want black, you're in business! They last a long time I'm told, and dissipate heat to boot.
