Who knows about 4 hole luggage rack
Yes, they exist. I see them in old pictures dating back to 1970. I am restoring a 70 and it has only 4 holes in it. I need one. Wha to you know about them?

I've worked with Justin at Zip to get custom hole spacing for my rack as the two center holes on my deck don't line up with any standard vendors pattern. I bet he could help get you a custom rack...

I have a '68 coupe that I bought from the original owner in May 1970. It has a four leg luggage rack installed by the dealer (Crest Chevrolet). The NCRS manual says only 6 or 8 leg racks were used on Corvettes, but I know mine was originally installed by the dealer. I have never seen a repro unit in any of the supplier catalogs.

Talley, I hope you can help me on this. You are the only one, so far, who has a clue on this. First, is it possible for you to take a picture and send it to me. A cell phone picture is fine. Second, can you measure the rack for me, especially including the holes, center to center, side to side and top to bottom. I have spoken with a manufacturer of the standard 6 hole and 8 hole racks. He is hesitant, but may be able to build a custom rack. Your info would be invaluable. Thanks!

There are no visible markings on the rack. It was installed by a Chevrolet dealer so I don't understand the comment about it being a Mustang rack. It has the correct center width opening for a Corvette gas tank lid and fits perfectly on the rear deck (as can be seen in the photo).

I've yet to find a "new" rack available but have seen a couple in need of restoration. One has to hunt one down via the internet or swap meet to obtain parts to do a rebuild I believe.
Good luck with finding what you need.

Talley, here is what I have found out recently. The company that makes the racks for Zip Corvette, out of Florida, says your rack is one from a 63-67 convertible. That rack had the 'feet' that your rack has and explains the wider width of that rack compared to the newer 6 hole and 8 hole racks. Can you please give me the measurements of the holes in your rack, center to center, side to side and up & down? This might verify or reject this guess. Thanks.

Hi,
Notice the rack on the 68 that c3 posted appears to have wooden (real, contact paper?) horizontal bars.
I remember these from the era and sort of remember ads for them in magazines like Road & Track.
Regards,
Alan
