Hi ss,
Has it been working?
The 70-72 sb engines have a mechanical gauge that runs off a small oil line connected to the back of the intake manifold just to the left of the distributor.
You might begin by checking to see if that connection is intact.
Next is going to be checking the line itself and gauge…. neither of which is going to be an easy job.
Regards.
Alan

The very first thing I'd do is go to your local parts house and pick up a cheap gauge and hook it up where Alan posted above just to make sure you have pressure.
Also, as Alan said there is a small supply line that runs to the back of the gauge, hopefully it's not leaking behind the center console.
If you are not into originality get a braided steel line kit.

Carefully remove the nut/tubing from the intake manifold fitting. Use compressed air to blow short & firm blasts of air (80 psi max) into the end of the tubing. If you have an oil 'plug' in the line, this may break it loose. As you are doing this, the gauge should be showing some indications at each puff (which indicates that the gauge is fine).
If you get no change and no movement from the gauge, the gear/rack could be rusted/frozen or the gauge damaged. If you cannot free it or get indications on the gauge with this test, I think you will have to remove it and the line to diagnose the problem.
Good luck.
