...but as old as the car is who knows what transmission is actually in the car. I have seen many Corvettes with the wrong transmission in them for the era that they are. And just mentioning the automatics I have seen...Turbo 350, Turbo 400 and 700R4 and very rarely do I see a 4L60E...so who knows but the owner.

Guess who has an exhaust on the drivers side!

It took a lot of twisting and broken knuckles but it's attached front to back!!!

This weekend will be the passengers side, but first I'll have to remove the heat shield.

It's a 4 speed and the system (I believe) came from a 4 speed.

Jack stands placed in more places than I needed, but I felt much safer

Thanks for everyone's help!

I'm assuming you are working by yourself, so now that you are up on stands, use the jacks that you got them up there with as helper hands with the exhaust. That's how I did mine and it only took a couple of hours to get both sides in.

I didn't have it up all the way on jack stands. I did one side with the jack and stands just on that one side.

But it's a great idea to use the jack. Now that it's done and it's down on the ground, I think it hangs a little low and I was just thinking that I need to loosen the bracket a little and use the jack to straighten the pipe a little.

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions.

I don't know how to put it to you. You need to quit working under a jack-only lift. It's not worth it. Even if the opposite side is on jackstands, once a side slips, then the other can tilt and fall also.

Good job. Now tell us how it sounds!! Did you go around the block yet?

Do you have any pics of the finished job?

Hey 76,

Only one side is done. I'll finish the passenger side today. First I have to remove the cat heat shield that I think is going to be a pain.

I did start it the other night after I completed the drivers side but the other side way too loud. Hahahah
