Looking to understand how to tell if I'm running other-than stock cams on my matching 350/300 1969.
I've had the car since last fall, and the P.O. didn't have much history on it, other than some dress-out items he added.
At a couple of events this summer, I had comments from some knowledgeable guys, that I might be running some more aggressive cams in my engine, based on the sound it made at idle.
So, what's the easiest way to confirm the vintage and type of cams I've got?
This is not a part of the car's systems I've gotten too familiar with yet.
Thanks!
only thing you can do is remove valve cover and in combination with a crankshaft degree wheel measure valve lift and duration but that still wont tell you specifically who made the cam.
If casual comments from bystanders doubt your 300HP motor's cam is stock, it probably isn't. That is a very mild motor. If your car still retains some semblance of originality, you could look for evidence that some work has been done in the timing cover/intake manifold areas, such as new gaskets or sealants. I agree with all the other previous comments.
