1982 Crossfire cuts out
My 1982 Crossfire just started cutting out for no reason. 48k miles with tune up done at 36k. Drained the gas and filled with fresh gas and added Sea Foam and no change. Idles rough and runs like crap. Injectors are working with good spray. Could it be electrical like an ignition coil?

Ok. I can do that by spraying starter fluid near the manifold I guess.
And Now it won't go into reverse. All this crap is happening at once. Ran great for 8 years that I had it.

Check the linkage structure that controls the tbi's, which also has control over shifting of transmission - at least shifting points. Do know know about not going into reverse.

On a 700r4, if it wont go into reverse it "usually" means you have internal issues. The Sunshell could be broken or clutches are bad. If you don't have reverse, you probably don't have 2nd or 3rd either. You can find that out quick by pushing it out in the street and see if it shifts. I think a rebuild is in your future unfortunately. The TB linkage has nothing to do with "physically" shifting into any gear, only line pressure/shift points and if you get that wrong, it will burn up a 700 pretty quick. Grinding noises are never a good thing. BTW, your top plate may be leaking causing a vacuum leak. If it is, tightening it down usually doesn't help since the gasket may crack even more and get worse. If it leaking, just remove top plate and replace the gasket. Just curious... Is the motor running really rich when it's idling? It could also be an IAC issue. See if they are cycling when you short out pins A/B on test plug under your ash tray. Turn key to ON and have someone watch the IAC's for movement. No movement means they are bad or your harness may have an issue. Good luck and post up what happened.

it could be several things .But I would check fuel pressure.a bad fuel pump could give you all the problems that you now have.replace fuel filter and see how much pressure you have coming from the tank.The proper way of checking fuel pressure is between the two tbi. checking at the fuel filter can give you some idea about the pump.

I will try to get it to my transmission guy. He did all the seals about 8 years ago but not a rebuild.
Vacuum tester does pressure too so I can test both. Will replace fuel filter first.
Just need to know where to test vacuum?

Drove it a bit today. Now getting code 13 for oxygen sensor with warm engine. And waiting for fuel filter to get here.
Does O2 sensor causing problems make sense?

IAC= Idle Air Control. It's the square 4 wire connector plugged into the front of the throttle bodies. O2 sensor is an easy change. And not much cost.

Put new fuel filter in and it seems to be better but not quite there yet. O2 sensor will be here tomorrow and will put that in them. Code reader shows sensor is ok now. All 12's again but I will put new sensor in anyway. It looks like it is th original and has never been changed.

Very suddenly. It was ruining great, I parked it in the garage as usual, started it up the next day and has run like crap ever since.
So so far I drained all the gas and filled with a fresh tank with sea foam, new air filters and new fuel filter.
