After owning my car the way it is now.....I would NEVER put it back stock......it keeps an original theme without going overboard on the Resto-Mod deal......it would murder the original in a straight line and in the twisties......and the L-88 hood and wheels round off the look.....
I say modify it.....

That's a real nice shade of red. Most factory "red" cars look to orangey to me.

Original 1970 350/300 Auto/PS/PB/AC Coupe.
I too have waffled on keeping mine "original/numbers matching" but deep down I want a machine that "performs better" than 47 years ago. So thats the direction I'm headed.
Gonna have a lot of fun when I'm done :-)
Do it your way !

I would do whatever you want to do with it....its your car. Don't listen to anyone who says different.

No mod is going to "mess" it up who cares what some guy on the internet or a cruise night says? Hes not driving it you are!

To even tell the guy to sell his car and get something else is beyond words its just a car they were made to have power...believe me if GM had the tech for a 500hp sbc back then it would be in there. Mod that bitch put that stock stuff in a box guarantee youll never want to put it back on.

Did the #s all stock stuff. It was ok for a daily driver thats it. Other than that boring

Has anybody here ever bought a nice running Corvette with a modified engine and then gone back and installed the crate of old, 'matching numbers' parts that came with the purchase? Ive heard of guys putting back together basket cases, Ive heard of guys chasing down original parts for a resto (of a non running car) but Ive never known anybody who has downgraded from a performance engine back to stock purely in the name of historic collectability. Honestly, who wants a slower car?

Sure, a lot of the purist guys take great pains and spend lots of money just to have a correct as in what came factory engine, not even always the cars actual orginal engine,
Some dont care about speed or even ever driving their car...different strokes.

I say go for it, the stock stuff is gutless compared to what is available today.

I believe it's your car so your choice. You didn't get the chance to order the car you wanted when it was new so now is the chance to make it the car you want.

Do you see the hole in the right valve cover? It had one that I borrowed, and I gave it back. When I moved.

Yes there is plywood in my manifold, do you like the home made headers I fabbed up?
