After owning my car the way it is now.....I would NEVER put it back stock......it keeps an original theme without going overboard on the Resto-Mod deal......it would murder the original in a straight line and in the twisties......and the L-88 hood and wheels round off the look.....
I say modify it.....

I too have waffled on keeping mine "original/numbers matching" but deep down I want a machine that "performs better" than 47 years ago. So thats the direction I'm headed.
Gonna have a lot of fun when I'm done :-)

I would do whatever you want to do with it....its your car. Don't listen to anyone who says different.
No mod is going to "mess" it up who cares what some guy on the internet or a cruise night says? Hes not driving it you are!
To even tell the guy to sell his car and get something else is beyond words
its just a car they were made to have power...believe me if GM had the tech for a 500hp sbc back then it would be in there. Mod that bitch put that stock stuff in a box guarantee youll never want to put it back on. Did the #s all stock stuff. It was ok for a daily driver thats it. Other than that boring

Has anybody here ever bought a nice running Corvette with a modified engine and then gone back and installed the crate of old, 'matching numbers' parts that came with the purchase? Ive heard of guys putting back together basket cases, Ive heard of guys chasing down original parts for a resto (of a non running car) but Ive never known anybody who has downgraded from a performance engine back to stock purely in the name of historic collectability. Honestly, who wants a slower car?

Modify my very original 1969 L-46? Most all numbers match, 62k miles, Monaco orange, roadster. Low option car has been repainted but needs it again. I started off looking for a nice car I could hot rod, and somehow wound up with a numbers car. My thoughts are hot small block with a tremec 5 spd, borgenson steering, big block hood.
