Default Rear Spindle Flange question for an '80 question.

I've an '80 automatic car. Bought a diff/half shaft assembly from an '82. U joints are the larger 3150 type on the new '82 diff. Got the spindle flanges as well from the '82. Tried to test fit these flanges on my 1980 spindles. Won't fit. Understand now the '80-'81 and all '82's had something different as far as splines on spindles, or stub shafts, or both? Question: What do I need to use 3150 u joints with my 1980 automatic spindles?

I believe 80 and 81 L48 cars had the small u-joints and 80-81 L82 and all 82 models had the larger joints.

There is no difference in the splines. 82 spindles flanges are the same as 80-81 4speed flanges.
