Default Coolant Leak at Rear of Engine

A few weeks ago I posted a thread about coolant leaking from the rear of my engine. I rebuilt this engine. The coolant drips at the same rate when the engine is running. This vid was shot after the engine was turned off.

Default Rusted Out OEM Freeze Plugs?

When you "rebuilt" this engine did you put new freeze plugs in it? The small blocks have two freeze plugs in the rear and sometimes they are totally forgotten about.

New freeze plugs were installed at the machine shop where the block was hot tanked, cylinders honed.

Try adding a tablespoon of pepper, then driving it.

I am sure it is those freeze plugs in the rear as mentioned........

If you do not want to pull the engine.......the Moroso engine block sealer is some of the best stuff I have ever used, although the procedure to utilize it is a bit of a pain in the ***........but it flat out works for a small breach like this....and that is exactly what it is designed for. Try it!

Default Barz Leak

I have had very good luck with Barz Leak over the years so it's definitely worth trying. Just be sure to follow the directions. I seem to recall it says to pour it in and run the engine to full operating temperature for about 30 minutes. But I would pour it in and then log about 100 miles on it to be darned sure it reaches every nook and cranny. About $5 to $6 and it's available even at my local True Value hardware store.

Old hillbilly trick is a couple spoonfuls of mustard in the radiator will seal it up. But your car will smell like a hot dog when it runs.
