Default '73 Horn Woes

My horn has never worked on my '73. Horn was bad, so I replaced it, still nothing...then took relay apart, it was fried, replaced it...now horn blows by touching the Steering Wheel. When I took the wheel off before replacing anything I found plastic pieces in the column...Anybody know what the plastic piece was and where it goes? thanx

there are a number of plastic components involved with the horn function in the steering wheel. Below is a link showing the possibilities such as the horn contact, contact spring kit, etc.

Thanx...Looks like the Horn Contact Plastic Retainer maybe, Where in the Column does it go? Between the Large Spring and the Brass Contacts.

Most likely. They get brittle with age. I glued mine a couple of times before ultimately replacing it. There is a hollow post that breaks and it is usually the source of the problem.

I don't see it or the large spring in this illustration.
