Default Threaded Holes In Front X-member

On the front cross member on my '69, there are three threaded holes on each end that I haven't yet been able to figure what they are there for. Even with the grilles, bumper, bumperettes and headlight assemblies installed, they remain unoccupied. I've tried looking in the AIM but to no avail. Since the car was mostly disassembled when I got it, I have no recollection of what (if anything) was removed from there. I sure hope I'm not missing more parts.

Hi CU,
Anything to do with the core support?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan,

The core support is in place in the photos and sits behind the holes in question. My guesses so far; it's a replacement x-member for a later model car that has more "do-dads" up front or, perhaps for mounting tow hooks?

Picture may explain it better. RH side from above.

Hi CU,
I'm pretty sure this is the typical front crossmember used in 69+.
???
I believe the 68 crossmember doesn't have the holes for the core support.
Regards,
Alan

ADDED… after looking at you last photo???
