Rearend Rebuild Recommendations - Midwest
I am located in MN and planning to go through the back half of the my 1970 L46 once the snow flies. I will be looking for a reputable shop to go through the rear differential, including re-gearing to a 3.70 (I currently have the stock 3.36 in the car).
Can any of you recommend a good shop in MN/WI/Northern IA/Eastern ND/Eastern SD? I am willing to drive within reason to drop-off and pick-up and prefer not to ship. I like to meet the people doing the work.
Specific to the rear differential, do any of you have hard/fast things you recommend I should avoid or make sure of machining, parts, brands of components, etc? This is a street-driven car with 392hp/413tq SB and Muncie M20, done at 6K rpm. Everything is fresh from the fan to back of the drive shaft now. Just the back half to rebuild. Or, am I better off buying a completed rebuilt rear?
Thanks,
Joel

I would suggest contacting Tracdogg. He's in the Dallas area. He may know someone up there. HE would be the guy to rebuild it, but he's outside the area you specified.
