I would never recommend an externally balanced engine to any body. It just shows that the builder uses cheaper junkie parts to maximize profits

So much good info in here, thanks so much. I intend to just cruise around with it, maybe a little highway driving. No need for drag racing or going over 5k rpms for this application.

Doesn't look like Blueprint makes an internally balanced 383. How important is that for just streeting around town?

Even the new Chevy ZZ383 is external!

ZZ383 is discontinued. There 383 is now the SP383

On the output end, all GM V8 1-piece rear seal crank applications have a balance weight on the flywheel or flexplate. So, to be internally balanced actually requires a special part instead of a standard application part. So, if they internally balanced the output, an average user sticking a stock type flexplate or flywheel onto the engine would cause an imbalance.

There really isn't a similar reason to use a weighted balancer since most balancers are not weighted and there are many aftermarket cranks that don't need it. But, maybe they do have a good reason for using a crank that requires it.
