Default V belt versus cog belt?

I'm replacing my 2 current belts on my 69 427 car. I was wondering if it matters if I replace my rotted out v belt with a cog style belt? Online it says the cog belts should be a direct replacement for a v belt and be
slightly better? Is this correct any opinions on this ?
thanks
jim

From what I've seen, most new V belts are the "COG" style. They just look different on the back side but do the same function as the old style V belts that are smooth on the backside. The cogs help them to grip better than the old ones.

I also think they grip better.
