Have you posted in C2? My guess is the C2 frame was stamped the same as C3 frames. First location is on top of the driver's side frame rail about where your hip would be if you were sitting in the car. You cannot see this stamp with the body on the frame.
The second location is also on the top of the driver's side frame rail by the #4 body mount. You may or may not be able to see this one with the body on.
The stamps are VIN derivatives and not complete VINs.

It typically takes a mirror to see the stamp that's in Mikes second picture.
If you feel the top of the rail very carefully you can often feel a slight depression that the stamping machine made.
That will help you to know just where to look.
