Default Big Block Power Steering/Alternator

I have a 74 big block which has air conditioning. Getting at the power steering pump to check the fluid is impossible. Is there a solution to that with different brackets, or should I simply move it to the other side. If I do that can some of you give me the part numbers of the alternator brackets that would be needed? I likely would remove the air conditioning compressor when I do that

Last, where is the best place to get a new radiator, I have a four speed.

If you have the factory brackets and pump mounting, then getting to the power steering cap is a task.. Sometimes you have to twist the cap and then pull up and sort of bend while pulling the dipstick forward to remove. It's like this on big blocks and even on small block engines.

But... is your power steering loosing fluid? Because most people don't check the fluid level enough to worry about it...

If you are loosing fluid then fixing the leak would probably be cheaper than trying to move the brackets and the pump.

IMHO,

Willcox

It's close. Make sure you have the correct belts. The alternator bracket is really close to the lid on the pump. My 69 is the same way. Just takes some finesse. Moving the PS to the other side would be a major change. Alternator could be moved, but removing the AC and extending the alternator wiring would be a pain.

All of the Corvette vendors have radiators, along with Tom DeWitt. No idea where you are, but there may be a local shop that can rebuild yours too.

And I carry DeWitt's radiators and they'll be on sale soon..

I went through this with my '71 BB in 1975. When I installed new belts, I used one on my PS that would give me access to remove the cap to check the fluid level. You might give that a try.

I would go with a DeWitts radiator....perfect fit.
