if your car has a fuel return line to the tank and you do not use a filter with a check valve your Q jet the float bowl will drain down and cause hard starting.

My '76 had the filter removed from the QJ and an inline gas filter installed between the carb and fuel pump using two pieces of rubber tubing and four gear clamps. Never had any problems. Lots of guys do this simple mod with a caution to not use the glass type inline filters.

if the Q jet had the original windowed needle seat it will leak down because the windows are below the fuel level but if it has a after market type that is not windowed this will not be a problem. the GM needle seats were windowed so the fuel did not have to go up passed the needle causing a restriction to flow on the high performance engines.

I don't recall which one. It was the original '76 QJ for my L-82.

You are welcome to the land of beer and chocolate. Be sure to visit the historic cities of Ghent and Bruges. A must. Best Regards, Claudio
