Great Point about the China tires^^^^^^^^^^^^^^being made from a name brand tire companies like Cooper or Michelin versus a no name company like Sunny or Pegasus!!!!!!!! You are right I would avoid generic name tires and have......

BUT would try the V rated 15 inch only because they are the only V rated game in town, for the most part.

A friend who repairs Volvos for a living recently told me about some Vietnamise made tire for like $40 per tire and my response was NO THANKS.

Yeah, I'm not afraid of china tires. I'm glad to try these out. Probably the "highest" rated tires I've had on this thing. I was surprised to find V-rated 15s, a LOT cheaper than any other so-called "brand name" tire, and this 235 fits a skosh better than the 245s I had on the front of my 68.
For my old Nissan pickup I've been buying the cheapest tires readily available for ages. Haven't had a problem with any of them.

Well guys at least you have a choise to make I don't here in Europe.
All I can get is General grabber for normal price, Pirelli if I sell my kidneys, Cooper Cobra is something in between, BF Goodrich also expensive as hell but not so much as pirelli!

Did you review post #24 in this thread? He has some euro-links.... not sure how that brit-euro-brexit b.s. affects you, but perhaps something there?

Yeah....sorry, not installing Chinese made "Vitour" tires on my classic American car. My BF Goodrich 15 inch tires carve up the Pennsylvania roads quite fine. More importantly, I am not putting white letter tires on my car with big giant white VITOUR white letters.....BF Goodrich, yes....Goodyear, yes....cause those are American companies that are appropriate for an American classic car. Maybe I should put a Toyota Camry emblem on the side of the car....what do you think?

Again....my BF Goodrich Radial T/A on stock 15 inch rims lets me carve up the roads in Pennsylvania for 10,000 plus miles so far, and not once have I feared I was flying out of control off the road. But then, I drive responsibly, since I have no right not to.

Recent threads on tires surprised me because one of the performance types stated that even with his 17 inch modern performance tires he was losing traction and took it off the road.......SO.....what does that say??? Hmmmm.....maybe the real problem is too many people are mixing up driving a car responsibly on public roads with thinking they are on a race track...SLOW DOWN! You are not on a race track.

Point is, 15 inch Goodrich Radial T/A tires are more than adequate for street driving. PERIOD. They exceed the requirements of responsible street driving.

I agree, if I ever used a Vitour tire, there is not a chance that I would have the raised white letter facing out...BLACK WALLS!!!!

For the average C3 driver out cruising or pushing his car moderately occasionally, a BFG TA will be just fine.............no argument from me on that issue.

While I agree that I would not install them on my car, Asian tire brands have been coming to the states for a long time. In every case I can think of they eventually were very successful and accepted.

70's "What's a Bridgestone?"

80's "Yokohama, didn't we bomb them in WWII?"
"Toyo what?"

90's "I wouldn't put a Sumitomo tire on my car"
"Hankook, sounds like a personal problem"
"Falken, I think they spelled it wrong"
"Kumho, ho? A Korean tire, never!"

2000's "Fusion - no way I would put a Chinese tire on my car"
"Nexen - no Palindrome tires for me."

[QUOTE=Alan 71;1596277079]Hi CM,
I think the BF GOODRICH tires have the best appearance.....
both the style and size of the lettering and the sidewall design.
If you decide to run the black side out, that side has a good appearance too.
Regards,
Al

Are you running Galaxy tires, or do you know anybody that does? I am curious how the handle, I wanted to try out Galaxy's after I am tired of my BFG's...

I originally posted the details about speed rated Galaxy tyres. Someone over here alerted these to me due to the non-availability now of European manufactured equivalents to BFG's etc from traditional leading manufacturers like Pirelli, Michelin and others. Tyre retailers in the UK (and Europe) can not import non 'E' marked tyres for road use. Whilst there are MT's and various 'drag' radials in use on the street here legality and ultimately insurance cover will be at issue (especially, I'm guessing after an accident) Me, I'm using 18" Toyo's.
Many of our CCCUK members over here are I'm guessing much like many of you on here - i.e seem to be more concerned about what the tyre, lettering and tread pattern actually looks like rather than the benefits of potential traction, cornering, braking and handling improvements that a 'modern' tyre can actually give.............

Hey, if we are buying these economical Chinese made tires for our priceless C3's, maybe we could talk a Chinese company into retrofitting some of their top-notch air bags into the steering columns for us............. I already met a guy who had one of those go off in his face, no thanx...

I’m sure is those BFG radial TA’s were “ more than adequate for street driving”, GM and the rest of the performance aftermarket would be using them, considerably how inexpensive they are. Tire technology, like all technology, has advanced since the 70’s.

While I agree that if all you do is drive a c3 like a Camry, the radial TA is adequate. And I’ll agree that 19”+ wheel sizes don’t look right on these cars. But 17-18” wheels look perfectly fine, and you get the benefit of the latest tire technology, including a great ride.

It is a V rated tire and the price is right too. I was about sold on the MTs but now I got to research these to see how they handle and ride.
I'm still back and forth on keeping my 15" wheels or going to 17". I'm not so sure these tires are such a bargain with all the extra charges. $450 shipped to me vs. M/T tires from Summit shipped to me for $540.
