Here is a decent base. With AFR 195 75 CC heads it will drop the compression enough to work. This and the heads are $6000. https://www.cnc-motorsports.com/cnc-...1-pistons.html

what is the difference in gaining H.P between this block and if I am going to keep mine. Is there is a very big difference that it worth changing.
Thanks you were very helpful.

Take a look at this thread:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...l82-in-c3.html
And this post in particular from someone with a 383 build from a 350:
I researched this somewhat for my L82. This is the setup I am using for my 383. It cost around $5k in parts alone and hits 500HP easily.
However, the assembly, deck, bore, hone + other labor puts me over $5k by a decent margin:
$1600 - AFR 195 Street Heads
$1800 - Scat 383 forged 4340 internally balanced full rotating assembly
$1200 - CompCams hydraulic retro-roller full cam kit (with timing chains etc) with 570 lift
$500 - Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap dual plane intake manifold
$100 - Felpro intake, exhaust, head gaskets
-$??? - There is part overlap between head and cam packages, like springs and retainers
The extras will add up too, like cam thrust plate/button, new ARP fasteners, spark plugs, break-in lube, etc.
On the other hand, there are a lot of cheaper capable heads, cast cranks and hypereutectic pistons that can handle that power and can save you more than $1k. $5k may be within the range of possibility if you go that route.

Burning Brakes

This, or buy a GM 400 block and start from there and build it into a cast crank 407 or a forged crank 421. Buy a great set of heads ,(maybe Profiler - less $ than AFR).
You get to decide if the budget includes the forged crank, and/or a roller cam setup vs. flat tappet.
Sell your complete running engine, not much of it would be of use, just the block, maybe the oil pan and oil pump, timing cover, and some bolts. Could use it to build into a 396.
Better get a new pen and plenty of paper to write it all down to compare, and see what you're leaving out !

I have never had my car on a dyno but based on the mph the car makes and my weight it is right at 500hp mark.
I would not call the car un street-able or drag race only as I drive the car around all the time. However, its a 4 speed and I don't have Ac, my cam is not huge but would probably require a vacuum system to run stuff that I don't have.
The build:
355ci
Eagle H-beam rods Eagle crank and free floating wrist pins
Ross racing 11.6:1 forged aluminum pistons
Trick Flow Twisted wedge heads full port and polish
Victor Jr. Intake ported and polished
Comp Cam Solid flat tappet 244 252 .520/.540
750 Mighty Demon
Nothing fancy but it works, I don't know how much I got in it because it was built using some parts I already had. I don't have $5k in it but I already had the block and the heads and intake. When i built this engine I just had the heads and intake ported and polished and bought the rotating assembly and carb.
I calculated the HP based off the Wallace racing 1/8 mile calculator. I had my Grand National on a Mustang Dyno, ran it at the track and checked the Wallace calculator. Its surprisingly accurate. It says I'm right at 500hp

Update
Thank You All for the help & support
Rather then buying or building an engine for $7k-$8500 + 500 HP +. I bought a whole Car for about $10k , I got it in a very great deal 2011 Jaguar XFR V8 5.0 Supercharged 510 HP it can be tuned by the ECU and SC Pulley will get you 600 HP +.
For the C3 I will enjoy my new 350/290 for a while, But in the future plan will increase the budget to a LS3.
I wanna thank You all and I wanna thank KNERF for mentioning a great price engine I and most of us did not see it. It was at the first page
SBC CHEVY 383 STROKER STAGE 2.0 CRATE MOTOR 505 hp BASE ENGINE
for $4495
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SBC-CHEVY-3...938?rmvSB=true
Thank You all. I really learned a lot from your different opinions and comments.

Drifting
Don't get hung up on a horsepower or torque number.
Decide if you're willing to splurge on an aftermarket block. If not, you're stuck with production.
Build it as big and powerful as you can afford. You can always detune an engine that makes too much power but you can't turn one up that's already maxed out.
I bought a complete LS6 out of an '03 Z06 for $3000. That came with everything but the wiring harness. I'll tear it down to the point where I can see cylinder bores and check rings. I'll probably replace valve springs and bearings. I will probably have about $6K in it when installed, needs wiring harness, headers, yada yada.
25th Anniversary Corvette with a 50th Anniversary Z06 engine. Hope she likes it

wants 500 buys a S/C jag
Have fun op....guess answers arent much good now in the future go for cubes...makos 400+ci with good heads and a healthy cam will get you there. Takes a fair amount to get an honest 500 from a 383; most textbook builds you see are probably 50 less
