Default 80 Axle shaft. What bolt head is it?

I tried to remove the axle shaft from my 80 but the bolts have more points than my E-sockets. What type are they?

The bolts varied from AT to Mt transmissions, but what you need is I believe it's a 12 point 1/4 inch socket.

One number was a 458300,
The other was 14023500 which number changed in sept. 1991 to 14047768, then it changed to 12338087 in that same month, Sept, 1991. Why.. don't ask me... it's just in my data base.

I don't remember what size they are for sure... you should be able to google the part numbers with a GM after the part number and find out the size. Or search this site for archives, I'm sure it's been addressed before.

Make sure you use a bit of blue thread locker and torque to 150" inch lbs when you reinstall them.
