A true artist......

I don't see why anyone would even bother going to someone else for a big block....

I looked at Vortecpro's website--- I built my 496 and spent just a little more than his prices. But if I take out the stuff I added on-- .904 lifters (and the machine work to install bronze bushings) and the T&D shaft rockers, it's close enough on cost to not make a difference. And all I got was a big pile of parts. Vortecpro is ready to drop in and fire it up.

I get a kick out of seeing Alan's car in the magazine article I did in the background!

BTW...I told the editor to call you for some quotes on another article he's doing....

Your writing is second to none........and I mean that. Hot Rod and Car Craft would be a much better publication with you at the helm. You were good Frieburger but you just don't have Jims hard core race experience.

Ready to dyno........it ain't no peanut port this time. I will see if I can get Harold to graph this 467 over my peanut port, so we can see what moving the power up will do for track times.

You know...you've just about got those things figured out!!! Wow......sounds sweet! CK out that oil pressure.......

Some 396 decals and a 4 speed with some 4.56's and 29"-30" tires would be a blast!!

Come out HARD and bang some gears with a little oval port flat tappet!!

That is very impressive for what is there. And an oval port cast head to boot.

My last 468 went like this.

2 bolt main block studded

12.5-1 compression, with a 6.385 rod

Balanced blue printed etc all the good machine shop stuff.

Cam Motion solid roller, .692/.684 with .262/.272 @ .050 on a 112LSA Nitrous friendly

Heads were out of the box AFR 305 rec ports.

Vic Jr Intake and a 950 hp holley 2" Hooker header.

Dyno said

708 HP 622 TQ on the Motor.

1006 Hp 1095 TQ On Nitrous.

So For all the extra money i spent on heads and roller cam plus compression i only gained another 30 hp on the motor over your combo and i was not pump gas friendly unless i backed a bunch of timing out .

So lets look at the numbers and what they mean, below is a independent analysis of my engine build (parts verification) and dyno calibration by Harold Bettes former Super Flow employee.

Now lets compare this engine in this thread (620 467) to a known 467 that has been run in my 1968 Chevelle @ a known weight of 3720 pounds. The engine specs with a graph comparing the two engines below, the lower graph depicts this engine run @ 3720 in 28.95 barometer, 10.34 @ 126.1 MPH, the upper graph depicts the engine in this thread.

467
236 peanut port heads
228 @ .050 hyd cam
Stamped steel rockers
1.250 valve springs
9.3 actual compression
Performer RPM intake
AED 850 carb 1 inch spacer
Performance:
10.34 @ 126.1 @ 3720 in a 28.95 barometer
