Default World Products Sportsman II heads

Has anyone run these heads in their 350? I was thinking Edelbrock Performers (Idle to 5500 rpm) aluminum heads, but I have found a used set of these Sportsman II. Reviews on them seem good, but I dont know much about their powerband. I am using a Performer manifold and an Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm Carb, and Edelbrock 2102 cam. Opinions if this set up would be good for these heads. Thanks for any input.

You didn't say anything about the cc of the intake runners or valve size

I can't speak for those heads but I have World SR Torkers on my 74 and I'm very happy with them. I've had them for around 15 to 20 years and have no complaints. They are 67cc. with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust. I have a stock rebuilt L48 block with a performer style intake which I ran with an Edelbrock Thunder series AVS carb earlier and with a Summit carb now. The engine has a Crane Max Velocity cam that specs at 216 int. And 228 exh. Not sure of the lobe spacing but if I remember correctly it was in the 112 to 114 range. I got the heads fully assembled and installed them with Summit roller rockers. The engine runs great. It's not a ground pounder but a strong street driver. I never dynoed it but Desktop Dyno says It's in the 325 hp range. A big step up from the original 195 hp.

After you do everything else, change your jetting to 1405 specs on the carb. Makes a good difference.

I ran thees heads,,, but they were ported by Tobie at Valley heads...

George will probably step in now and say "they are no longer Sportsman" heads:-)

There is a LOT of meat in the heads that can bee ported out...

my 383 ran them and I was laying down over 450hp to the rear wheels

Good heads... NEVER a problem

I ran the Edelbrock Rolling thunder 383 retro roller cam

They made these in 64cc and 72cc combustion chambers, all are 200cc intake runners. Their flow is almost as good as factory vortecs, but they are far more durable and can take alot of porting (as said) and respond very well to a bowl porting job (reducing the valve guide boss(s) especially). Easy to upgrade intake valve size to 2.05 or 2.08 and increase the corresponding bowl size, if fully porting.

Default sbc setup input

What do you guys think about this setup. 350 punched 40 with a 3.75 stroke (385) sportsman 2 heads 200cc runners 72cc chambers with a 3 angle valve job. Competition products single plane intake(painted black of that helps the hp #s) 👏 Intake starts at 3k to 7k..125 dome kb pistons on 5.7 rods. Elgin 1090p solid flat tappet. Specs are Cam Lift=.358" Int./.371" Exh. - Valve Lift=.537" Int./.557" Exhaust - Duration=287°s Int./295°s Exh. - Duration@.050" = 256°s Int./ 264°s Exh. - 105° Lobe Center. Built turbo 350 claimed to handle 600ish hp. Haven’t picked a stall but leaning towards a 3500. 4:11 gear. Motor is going in a full interior G body. Any input is greatly appreciated

You should probably just start a new post. As to what you ask: I don't understand the logic of 72 cc heads and domed pistons when 64 cc heads are available. Are these KB pistons forged, if not Hyper pistons have a feet per minute limitation and are not made for high rpm long stroke motors. that cam is something that you would find in a light weight circle track car.

Very unfriendly street manners from a small CI engine,,, I would not even do that with a 427... (Cam wise) and 600hp? sure, and the dyno graph will look like a pyramid .... not good.

Id run more converter and gear if possible....give what you have a try first, you may or may not want to change it.
